Vegetarian Prawn

A plant based prawn made of konjac. Free of seafood, meat, dairy and all animal products. Perfect for asian dishes; stir fries or deep fry in batter.

Ingredients: Konjac, salt, sugar, vegetarian seasonings, curdlan (5%), permitted colouring (E160c). 

May contain traces of nuts, seeds and soybean.

Vegetarian Sambal Prawns

Serves 4-6

Ingredients:

  • 12-14pcs Lamyong Veg. Prawns
  • 2 tbsp Vessimix Mushroom Chilli Paste
  • 150ml tomato sauce
  • 1 cup cabbage (shredded)
  • 6-8 small sized okra (sliced)
  • 1 tsp tamarind paste (dissolved in 2 cups of water)
  • 1/2 cup chopped fresh coriander
  • 1/2 tbsp chopped fresh ginger
  • 1/2 tbsp chopped fresh lemongrass
  • 1 tsp salt
  • 1tsp sesame oil
  • 1 tbsp cooking oil
  • 2tbsp potato starch (thickener)
  • 4 tbsp water (thickener)

Method:

  1. Defrost and cut veg prawns into half widthways.
  2. Heat oil in pan. Saute ginger and lemongrass for 1min. Add tomato sauce and Vessimix mushroom chilli paste. Cook in low to medium heat.
  3. Add cabbage and season with salt and sugar. Simmer for a further 1 min.
  4. Add tamarind water, remaining sugar for extra sweetness. Bring to boil then add veg prawns and okra. Simmer for 2-3 mins or until okra softens.
  5. In a seperate bowl, mix potato starch and water to create a slurry. Stir into pan, stirring constantly until gravy thickens. Remove from heat.
  6. Serve veg prawns warm with steamed rice or as side dish. Garnish with coriander.
